Life's Choices

We make many choices as we journey through this life.  In fact, life is a series of choices with each decision taking us along a certain path to another fork in the road where another choice must be made.  The choices we make throughout our life will determine who we are, where we are, and where we’re going when we’ve completed our journey. Knowing this, it’s important that we make wise choices along the way.

"... I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse.  So choose life in order that you may live... by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him."  Deut.  30:19-20

“I have chosen the faithful way; I have placed Your ordinances before me.” Psalm 119:30

The Long Road

The road is long with many turns and twists. There are times when darkness and shadows obscure the way but you cannot turn around and go in the other direction.  This road is one-way - you must go onward.  It leads from birth to death.  It’s a road from which there is no return.  All who read these thoughts are on that road.  Some of you may have been traveling for a relatively short period of time while others may have been journeying for many, many years.  Some are closer to the end of the road than others. But regardless of where you are today, one day each person will arrive the end of the road.  It cannot be avoided.  Death awaits all.

“All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust” (Ecclesiastes 3:20).

The most important thing in life is to prepare yourself for the day when you reach the end of the road.  For after death, you will stand in God’s presence.  He will ask you about your life and what you did for Him as you traveled on that long road.

“Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:7).

“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment...” (Hebrews 9:27).

You may ask, “How do I know what God expects from me as I travel this road”?  God has not left you in the dark to stumble along but has given you a guide to follow.  That guide is His word – the bible. God’s word lights the way and shows you where to go.  By following it, you can safely travel that long road and be prepared to stand before Him when you reach the end.  As the Psalmist said, “Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Heaven - A prepared place for a prepared people!

"In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you."  John 14:2

"...He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him."  Hebrews 5:9

The Broad Way

For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.   Matthew 7:13
